So I wrote this note when I was on the market, and then posted it on my web-site. This was a rash decision --> I should have written more papers. It still lives on the web and people sometime tell me they use it, so I decided to update it with my eight extra years of insights. I am posting this here because now is the time to plan ahead for the next job market season:
