I am from a top 20 finance program. My research is corporate + capital market research in accounting (disclosure, market efficiency, etc). Two of my committee members are from finance (one well-know, one young associate with tenure), and the other two are from accounting (one well-known, one associate with tenure). I plan to apply for both assistant professor positions in finance and accounting.I am considering accounting for its better job market demand, and honestly I don't mind teaching financial statement analysis. It all depends on location and school offer. Ideally I could join some school where accounting and finance people work closely with each other.
Does anyone know any finance guy ending up with an accounting position?
How would I be perceived by both departments?
Please, no mockery or insult, please.
