Economist on "What makes a good financial economist?"

As a PhD student from a MRM, I am wondering what makes a good financial economist. A tenured position with 7 top 3 after 10 years? 3 papers with more than 1000 cites? or is it when your peers think that you are good regardless of the number of pub (invited to be AE or editor of reputable journals, discussant at the top finance conferences)? I am not talking about about a Nobel prize winner, just top 10% of the profession.
